Which acoustic guitar to buy?

About this Splore

We are looking for a beginner guitar, but one that is good enough for a serious beginner, not a piece of junk for people who are just dabbling.

My daughter taught herself to play the piano and is now interested in learning guitar. I believe her when she says she will take it seriously and stick with it. I will be paying for the lessons, but she will be buying the guitar herself.

Questions: where should we buy it? do we need to get her fitted? how much should she expect to spend (she's budgeted around $100 babysitting money--is that reasonable)? any certain brands to look for or avoid?

This is her own money, so it's especially important to choose wisely. Thanks!

You were smart to go with nylon strings. Much easier to learn to play.

My boys bought theirs at the Guitar Center. My oldest son, has taught himself and plays very well. He learned by just playing. He has never learned the sheet music part.

I picked this one:

I also like the 1 day shipping for 3.99--it will be here tomorrow.
